Priorities

“We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.”—Winston Churchill

Most of us typically start our day by checking a communication device to see who might have emailed, posted, or texted. Then, before we handle what’s most important to us, our day begins by responding to what’s important to those around us. Before you know it, things that matter least to us start to replace things that should matter most.

If we are not careful, we will let our culture set our priorities for us instead of following God’s directions for living life. We can become captivated by wanting so much that giving is no longer a priority. We may even stop giving the time we so desperately need to spend with our Heavenly Father, instead giving it to some activity with no eternal consequence.

Jesus taught us that all we need would be given to us, allowing us to utilize our time and gifts to transform the world into a place of compassion and mercy. Let us pause for a moment and seek the wisdom of God, who has a set of priorities for us to fulfill. It is time to once again be known for what we give to God and those around us.

Journeying Together,

John
