Psalm 145:4

“Let each generation tell its children of your mighty acts;
    let them proclaim your power.”

My wife and I started a tradition over a decade ago to take a trip with our family to the smoky mountains and celebrate New Year together. I was able to watch the smoke rise on the hills, hear the water as it flowed down into the valley, and even got to watch it snow four inches and cover the ground and trees with a cloak of white. I paused, and as I was looking at the beauty of the mountains, I thanked God for such beauty that he has shared with us and for allowing me to be a part of the story.

The Psalmist says that it is our responsibility as a follower of Jesus to proclaim to our children the works and power of our loving Savior. We see His design in every flower, bird, mountain, and in each face of those we meet. He has indeed allowed us to know that there is nowhere that we can’t experience His presence. There is much to be done this year! Let us start by remembering the one that we serve. He has shared the love with all of us and the creation that he has entrusted us to be stewards. We must also remember His love of the Church that he created to proclaim the good news and the caring of souls. This is a beautiful story that we are a part of, and together we can proclaim by our words and deeds to the generation we are now influencing. Journeying Together
