Money for Your Story

by | Aug 22, 2018 | Communications

Years ago, I read an article about artificial intelligence. The writer said that the breakthrough will come when the computer answers a question with, “You know, that reminds me of a story.” The most human thing we do is tell stories. Stories are easier to remember than plain facts.

Story telling is at the heart of what we do as Christians. We are called to tell the story of Jesus and his love. I believe that we also called to tell the story of how we are living out our fundamental call of telling God’s story. And these stories stir the hearts of hearers to generously support our work of storytelling.

Through the Spencer Endowment for Journalism, we are granting three $500 awards to churches, who are telling their stories through a narrative budget, a planned giving communication or other communication. This may be in the form of a brochure, a bulletin or a pamphlet.  The other category also includes social media.

Examples should be submitted to by October 1, 2018.  Submission should be in PDF or JPG.

We want to see what you are doing to communicate a culture of generosity. We hope that this will provide models for other congregations to use in growing generosity. If you need more information or ideas, you can look at resources on our web page:
