In a world filled with distractions, staying focused on God can be challenging. Our minds are constantly bombarded with responsibilities, social media, worries, and temptations that pull us away from Him. Yet, the Bible calls us to fix our thoughts on what is true and good, keeping our focus on the things of God rather than the chaos around us.
During His time on earth, Jesus demonstrated perfect focus. He was not swayed by distractions, the opinions of others, or the trials He faced. Instead, He set His heart on fulfilling the Father’s will. In Luke 9:51 (NLT), we read, “As the time drew near for him to ascend to heaven, Jesus resolutely set out for Jerusalem.” He knew His purpose and stayed focused, even when the journey was difficult.
The enemy often tries to shift our attention away from God by filling our minds with worry, doubt, and worldly desires. When Peter walked on water toward Jesus, he stayed afloat as long as he kept his eyes on Christ. But the moment he focused on the wind and waves, he began to sink (Matthew 14:30-31, NLT). Like Peter, we must remember that what we focus on determines our spiritual stability.
Journeying Together,
John
