When we think of giving, our minds often go straight to money. While financial generosity is important, true biblical giving goes beyond money. God calls us to be generous with our time, talents, love, and encouragement.
Jesus modeled this perfectly. Though He had no earthly riches, He gave abundantly—healing the sick, comforting the broken, and teaching the lost. His greatest gift was His life, freely given so we could receive eternal salvation. In Mark 10:45 (NLT), Jesus said, “For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve others and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
God has blessed each of us with unique gifts. Some can teach, some can encourage, and others can serve with their hands. Romans 12:6 (NLT) reminds us, “In his grace, God has given us different gifts for doing certain things well.” When we use these gifts for His glory, we are practicing generosity in its purest form.
Giving beyond money means being present for others. It means listening when someone needs to talk, praying for those who are struggling, and offering a helping hand without expecting anything in return. A kind word, a shared meal, or a simple act of service can have a lasting impact.
Journeying Together,
John
