On November 27th, 2007, I raised my hand in Jackson, Mississippi, and swore an oath to protect and defend this Nation I have been blessed to be a part of. I never knew on that day how much of my life would be changed and all of the different places in the world that I would see because of my service in the United States Army. I left the civilian world and became something entirely new: A Soldier!

As a follower of Jesus, we are promised that the gift that Jesus offers all of us is the new life. It is a life that understands that generosity, kindness, compassion, and, most of all, love are the most remarkable traits we can possess. We are told to strive for these attitudes that produce actions that influence others to come alongside us and follow him, too.

I must admit I love new things, and I hope you do as well. Let us live the new life that comes from following the way of Jesus.
