“But forget all that it is nothing compared to what I am going to do. For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it? I will make a pathway through the wilderness. I will create rivers in the dry wasteland.”- Isaiah 43:18-19 NLT
I was a lead pastor in our conference for 27 years, and each time I offered a new vision or idea, I was met with two reactions. Those who liked change embraced the new, and for them, it was exciting. Those who didn’t like change found the idea of anything “new” to be stressful and something to be suspicious of.
Yet we follow a Savior that works outside our own box of thinking and our comfort levels. He doesn’t always work in the ways we would have chosen for our “new.” He can see the big picture, working behind the scenes of life unfolding daily. He knows exactly what he is doing and the exact moment it needs to happen.
There may be “new” things where God has planted you for this season, but I assure you that we can trust him, and he has our best interest in mind. People move, life happens, decisions are made, many change jobs, kids grow up, and sometimes we might go through some tough struggles. It may make us uncomfortable, but he knows, sees, and works all things for good. Our future awaits, and there’s still more in store for us!
