I enjoy meditating on this text from Jeremiah as it contradicts the message our culture is bombarded with. Daily, we are reminded of wars, violence, hate, and many other issues that challenge our peace. However, this is not the message that our God has for us.
Our heavenly Father tells Jeremiah that he is on our side, and his plans for us are filled with hope. This knowledge should excite our hearts and center our spirit, allowing us to sound the message of peace and hope in a world that is in desperate need of God’s grace. Peace, hope, and grace are the message of the church that you and I have been called to be a part of.
As stewards of the message and resources God has entrusted us with, we must approach the future optimistically. We should invest ourselves in this mission, knowing that God is at work even when we cannot see it with our own eyes. Our God is still transforming lives and calling us into transformational relationships as we share His love to all people.
John Wesley said it best, “the best of all is God is with us”!
