“So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up.”— Galatians 6:9 (NLT)
The harvest is a powerful image in Scripture and one that reminds us of both patience and promise. Farmers understand this truth deeply. They plant seeds in faith, knowing that the fruit won’t appear overnight. It takes time, care, and trust in the process. The same is true in our walk with God.
In Galatians 6:9, Paul encourages believers not to grow weary in doing good. Why? Because a harvest is coming. Maybe not immediately, and maybe not in the way we expect but instead God’s perfect timing. The key is perseverance.
Every act of obedience is a seed. Every prayer you pray, every kind word you speak, every generous gift, every step of faith—it’s all planting. You may not see the results right away, but God sees. And He promises a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up.
The world often values instant results. But the Kingdom of God works on a different timetable. Ecclesiastes 3:1 (NLT) reminds us, “For everything there is a season, a time for every activity under heaven.” Just as a farmer trusts the seasons, we are called to trust God’s timing.
The harvest can also refer to people coming to know Jesus. In Matthew 9:37-38, Jesus said, “The harvest is great, but the workers are few. So pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask him to send more workers into his fields.” God invites us to be part of His work where we are sowing seeds of the Gospel, showing love, and helping others find hope in Christ.
If you’re feeling discouraged today and wondering if your efforts matter just remember the promise of the harvest. Keep going. Keep sowing. God is faithful, and He will bring the increase.
Journeying Together,
John
