“Let us be thankful and please God by worshiping him with holy fear and awe.” —Hebrews 12:28b (NLT)
As the seasons shift and harvest time approaches, we are reminded of God’s provision and faithfulness. The harvest is more than just crops and produce—it’s a symbol of how God blesses the work of our hands and answers our prayers in due time. Just as a farmer plants in faith, trusting God for rain and sun, we are called to live with faith and gratitude, trusting that God will bring a harvest in our lives.
Gratitude begins with recognizing that every good thing comes from God. James 1:17 (NLT) says, “Whatever is good and perfect is a gift coming down to us from God our Father.” Whether we see a physical harvest—like food on the table—or a spiritual one—like answered prayers, restored relationships, or personal growth—it is all from Him. Gratitude shifts our focus from what we lack to what we’ve received, and that shift brings joy and peace.
In Deuteronomy 8:10 (NLT), God instructed the Israelites, “When you have eaten your fill, be sure to praise the Lord your God for the good land he has given you.” God knows how easy it is to forget Him when life is full and blessings are abundant. That’s why He commands His people to give thanks—not only in hardship, but especially in abundance.
Harvest time is also a call to generosity. 2 Corinthians 9:10-11 (NLT) says, “For God is the one who provides seed for the farmer and then bread to eat. In the same way, he will provide and increase your resources and then produce a great harvest of generosity in you.” When we are grateful, we become more willing to give—to share from the overflow.
So, this season, take time to reflect on what God has done. Thank Him for the blessings seen and unseen. Praise Him for the harvests that have come and those still on the way. And ask Him to use you as a blessing to others.
Journeying Together,
John
