Seminary Scholarship Application
Status: OPEN 1/2/2026
Students must be a certified candidates for Ordained Ministry. Seminary students are eligible for up to four scholarship awards. Doctor of Ministry students are not eligible for scholarship awards. Deadline is April 1st. NO EXCEPTIONS.
Requirements for Seminary Students:
Applicants seeking scholarships for seminary studies must meet all the following requirements:
- Be a member of a Mississippi United Methodist Church
- Be currently approved by the Board of Ordained Ministry
- Attend a UMC Senate-approved seminary
- Submit a Pastor Certification Form signed by the District Superintendent of the District that holds their candidacy information.
Seminary Degree Restrictions
- Students who have already earned a Master of Divinity are not eligible
- Scholarships are not available for students pursuing a Doctor of Ministry
You will need:
- Current Photo (click here for specific guidelines)
- One page Essay (New students: About you, your faith, your life goals, leaving a legacy, and what generosity means to you) (Returning students: updates about you, faith, how the Methodist Foundation of Mississippi is helping you achieve your goals and leave a legacy, and what generosity means to you)
- Transcript (official or unofficial)
- Pastor Certification Form (click here) Signed by the District Superintendent of the District that holds their candidacy information
