“And God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others.”~ 2 Corinthians 9:8
One trait that I have observed with individuals and churches that limits their effectiveness is the attitude of scarcity. Scarcity always enters each obstacle, already proclaiming that there is not enough. This attitude causes us to live a life full of anxiety, believing that we will fail at whatever we try to accomplish because we will never have the resources to succeed.
When this attitude gains headway in the church, we stop being outwardly driven and become inwardly focused. We will stop trying to transform the community around us and allow our culture to dictate our level of influence. Fear has consumed us, and we will simply cease to have a real purpose.
Jesus teaches us that when it comes to fulfilling the mission he has given us, we will always have enough. Our God is the God of abundance that commands us to use all that we have to bring others to follow the way of Jesus. The enemy has come to steal, kill, and destroy but our Lord has come to give eternal life to all who seek it.
This year let us live in the knowledge that we are a people of abundance, and whatever the task that is placed before us, we will have enough to finish the mission.
Journeying Together,
John
